It is southernmost island or bottom island of Maldives.
Unlike other resorts in one island, Equator village is situated in Gan and Gan is connected by causeways to four inhabited islands one by one. Free Bicycles are offered for those who wish to ride and explore the islands on their own. The tropical vegetation in the islands are a must explore. Apart from the inhabited islands there are uninhabited islands as well in between inhabited islands linked through causeways. Apart from exploring the islands and the sea, discovering the Gan Island should be interesting for all visitors. Gan Island was a Royal Air Force base of Britain until 1976. Royal Air Force troops were staying and they built and infrastructure Gan island until 1976. Some of these buildings and places were built on some inhabited islands during the Second World War. British loyalty that was Torpedoes by the Japanese in World war two is lying on the sea bed inside the atoll (diving point) at Maradhoo Island. This is one of the best wreck diving points in the Maldives. This is a very famous point among the divers and the divers from other atolls come to dive to this point. The diving points and the marine life are still unspoiled and this area is considered as one of the best dive areas in the Maldives.
GETTING STARTED
What to Pack
The Maldives is warm throughout the year. Light, cotton
and linen wear is ideal. Pack lots of T- shirts, Beachwear, and Wraparound
Skirts, Cotton Shirts and Shorts. For visits to inhabited islands, where most
of the streets are of compact sand, or islands where the streets are paved,
sandals are easy to walk on. Some essential items include Swimwear, Sunglasses,
Sunscreen and a hat or a cap. If your
travel plan includes traveling to islands or island
hopping and visiting to islands, a mosquito repellent may become handy.
Transfers
Usually at the time of bookings and confirmations,
transfers are usually arranged. Unlike the options of speedboat or seaplane
transfers, guests for equator village usually have to take a domestic flight
upon arriving to Male International Airport. A one hour flight from Male
International Airport to
Gan International Airport would complete the air
transfers to Equator Village. From the airport guests will be handled and
greeted either by staffs of Equator village or Maldives Rooms.
Handling & Greetings
Upon arriving to Gan International Airport after a one hour
flight approximately, the guests will be received by the Airport Representative
(by Hotel or Maldives Rooms Travel) and after a three minute ride by car or bus
you will be reached to your final destination.
Reception
The reception area is equipped with satellite TV and IDD telephone and internet facilities. The normal reception service starts 07.00 AM and the receptionists will be available at all instances or for any assistance in the counter until 23.00 PM.
Rooms
The standard rooms with a total of
78 rooms are located in nice landscape garden area with a abundance of flowers,
bushes and trees. All rooms are spacious and equipped with air-condition,
refrigerator, shower (hot & cold water) sitting area and an outside sitting
place.
Dining
There is one main open air restaurant for meals and a number
of meals are available such as western, oriental, eastern etc. For any
assistance, F&B staffs will be at your service during the meal times. Meal
times are:-

Diving
For snorkeling lovers there is a nice house reef just 25
meters from the house reef. But for
guests who like to explore more there are a number of div points as mentioned
earlier. The dive instructors at the dive center are very friendly and assist
the guests in every possible way. Also,
important to mention that the diving base offers resorts courses, PADI Open
Water courses and of course Advanced Courses too.
Maldives is home to some of the most diverse marine fauna
and flora in the world. Tens of thousands of reefs, a thousand recorded species
of fish, over two hundred species of coral and hundreds more species of other
